About Pen y Graig - The Back Wing
THE BACK WING of Pen y Graig – sleeps 4, a cot is available. No pets.
There are wonderful sea views from all the windows in this Wing which look out over Church Bay on the Isle of Anglesey.
Downstairs is a sitting room/dining area with wood burning stove, kitchen, shower-room/wc/utility-room. Stairs lead from the living room up to a double bedroom and a twin bedroom.
The quarry tiled floors and beamed ceilings downstairs give this Wing its rustic charm. All the rooms are furnished in a traditional style and have sea views – with the exception of the shower room. The living/dining room was originally the farmhouse kitchen, the wood burning stove stands where the kitchen range once was, in the inglenook. A complimentary basket of logs is provided. This room now has a comfy sofa, rug, wooden farmhouse chairs, original pine wall cupboards and dining table. A 22″ lcd TV, DVD and CD player, large bookcase full of books, brochures and information on places to visit are there for your use.
The hand-made farmhouse style kitchen is spacious, has an electric fan oven, ceramic hob, fridge and microwave. Through the kitchen is a utility area with belfast sink and washing machine and a shower room with electric, step-in shower cubical, basin, wc, electric shaver point and overhead blow heater. Towels are available to hire.
There are double locked doors both up and downstairs between both Wings. There will be an additional charge if you wish to rent both wings together and request that the doors are unlocked, giving both groups access to the whole property.
Upstairs are two comfortable and spacious bedrooms. Bed linen is provided at no extra charge. The double bed has a king size duvet. Both rooms have wonderful panoramic views over Church Bay and Holy Island where you can watch the ferries coming and going from Dublin.
In the porch is a freezer and tumble dryer and plenty of hooks for coats and space for wellies and boots also a couple of fold up garden chairs and portable BBQ. The south-west facing patio is a wonderful suntrap and has a driftwood beam for a bench and a picnic table. To the rear of the property is an enclosed lawned garden for the Back Wing. Electric convector heaters are fitted in all the rooms and a charge for the electricity used is made by meter reading at the end of your stay. There is no central heating.

It is very important to us that your stay at Pen y Graig is an enjoyable experience. The property is a large old farmhouse without central heating and double glazing. If you are accustomed to central heating and do not like wearing an extra jumper, tending a wood burning stove or monitoring the electric heaters, it may not be the property for you.
We feel it is much fairer that you are charged for the electricity you use rather than including a higher and inflated fee within the rental price. Electricity costs (2017) in The Back Wing were approximately £1-2 a day during the summer months and £2-12* a day during the winter. (*estimate based on bedroom and bathroom heaters being turned off during the day and all heaters turned off over night) .
